Kick off time of week 8 TV channel announced

Alabama’s No.5 home game against Tennessee on Saturday, October 23 will begin at 6 p.m. CT and air on ESPN, the SEC reported Monday morning. The annual rivalry on the third Saturday in October, which will be the UA Homecoming game, will be UA’s third consecutive evening game.

The Crimson Tide and the volunteers will meet for the 104th time next week. Alabama lead the all-time series, 58-37-8, and have won 14 straight games, including last year’s meeting in Knoxville, Tenn., By a score of 48-17. The Tide came away with a 35-13 victory at Tuscaloosa two years ago, where the 2021 game will be played, the Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Alabama head coach Nick Saban is 16-1 for his career against Tennessee, including a perfect 14-0 record in Alabama. This will be Josh Heupel’s first game against Tide as head coach. After three seasons as UCF head coach (28-8, 19-5), Heupel replaced former Alabama defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt as Flights head coach at the end of January.

Having started the season 2-2, with wins over Bowling Green and Tennessee Tech and losses against Pitt and Florida, Tennessee started October impressively with two wins over conference teams. The Vols beat Missouri, 62-24, on October 2, and most recently South Carolina, 45-20, last weekend. Tennessee is now 4-2 (2-1 SEC).

This week, Alabama will travel to Starkville, Mississippi to take on Mississippi State for a 6 p.m. CT kickoff on ESPN. Meanwhile, Tennessee will host Ole Miss (7:30 p.m. on SEC Network).
